Jabiru
This linoprint is of a Jabiru (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus), Australia’s only stork. The Jabiru (or black-necked stork) is typically found inhabiting coastal and near coastal wetlands across the northern and eastern regions of Australia.
In this piece, I’ve tried to capture the simplicity, beauty and elegance of the Jabiru with its iridescent blue-purple-black neck. The copper sun accentuates the blue, and is also available without the copper for those seeking a more minimalist addition to their wall.
This piece took me a day to carve and print using a mix of Sakura Prussian Blue and Black ink mixed, and after a week of drying, a day to add the hand painted copper sun.
These prints are printed on A3 pieces of 220 gsm archival paper, with 100% copper leaf detail on the sun.
‘Jabiru’ is a limited edition, with only 40 prints available in each design.
